Metro-Fi, partnering with MSN & Microsoft took a unique approach to promote their new free wireless internet service in downtownPortland, using a cool combination of hi-tech & low-tech out of home to announce the service.

The hi-tech part was this snazzy looking new video vehicle—fully wrapped and sporting daylight viewable screens—which cruised around downtown Portland for 4 weeks broadcasting a greeting & directions on how to access the network.

Meanwhile, the low-tech part was a great marriage of media and message: 100,000 coffee sleeves distributed to coffee shops throughout the coverage area – where it seems like everyone is on their laptops.

The size of the video vehicle allowed it to navigate narrow downtown streets, and get in close to crowds around sporting events, concerts, the weekly pedestrian market, and even a local dog show.
