EMC started the summer with a bang—and a giant Grocery Cart! Partnering with Bloom, “A different kind of grocery store” and their agency, EMC launched the “Shop Happy” street team, a way for Bloom to penetrate key markets in Northern VA, where other outdoor advertising was unavailable.
The team took to the streets with branded grocery carts full of promotional items and free samples to hand out, while informing the public about all the great features Bloom has to offer. The giant Grocery Cart truck created a buzz and drew curious passerby to the team for some personal interaction.
Scheduled to continue for 13 weeks through the height of summer, the team was charged with getting the message out to Bloom’s key target audience – mothers with children – and sought them out in shopping centers, on city streets, and at local summer events like fairs, concerts, and July 4th celebrations.
“This is so much fun. I love it! I just had to come over and see what you guys were doing.”
“Wow, you guys are friendly! I think I’ll stop by Bloom later.”
“I am going to shop at Bloom just because they sent someone out who speaks Spanish. That’s respect for our community. I respect that. You got my business.”
“This is the first time that I have seen a grocery store doing promotions. This is very nice!”
“You converted me! I’m going there as soon as I leave here.”
Street teams and other forms of experiential marketing are ideal for reaching audiences where other Out of Home may not be availble, or whenever you want to add the element of personal interaction with consumers.
